Affiliate Programs – Their Pros And Cons

October 10th, 2011

By knowing the many good points about affiliate programs, you can make an awesome amount of money through something so simple even a child can implement it.

For many people, the neat thing about this strategy is the fact that the website being promoted handles most everything. And that covers customer service, delivery of the product, processing of payments and refunds, if need be. All that you have to do is direct people to their website, by providing a link to them on yours. Once a customer clicks your link, AND makes a purchase, you get a certain percentage of that sale. Effortless, eh? And you can just sit back and wait for the money to roll right in. That’s why many people recommend affiliate programs to people who want to make money online with as little effort as possible.

You don’t have to develop or carry the product. Knowing something about the product isn’t even a requisite, because your goal is not to drive customers to YOUR site per se, it is to drive customers to THEIR site, where they would be finding all the information they need.

Any good affiliate program will provide all of the materials you need to promote them. Your toolbox would usually contain text links, freebies (ebooks, for instance) and banners that you can place accordingly on your website. The super good programs will even offer you training, to learn the techniques for promoting their website.

Aside from trying to get people to click on the sites of your affiliates you have linked on yours, your only other worry would be website traffic on your site. If everything goes according to plan, there will be some sales generated and some money made on your part.

This strategy, however, is not perfect, as you would naturally have to compete with other individuals for sales. And there is the possibility of ending up on an unscrupulous affiliate site that would run with your money once you’ve made it on their behalf. Research would be your best defense in such a situation, as it would do you good to search for any possible complaints on the affiliate program.

Off-Line Marketing For Your Website

September 25th, 2011

Most Internet Marketers think of website promotion as just submitting to search engines, directories, link building and advertising in e-zines or banner exchanges.

In reality, most people spend their time off-line. They read newspapers, magazines, listen to radio and watch TV, talk with their friends, neighbours and family. Not all the time is spent surfing on the internet.

If you ignore the value of off-line marketing, you’re leaving 65-70% of the money that you could make.

Some suggestions for creating an off-line advertising/publicity campaign are:

Let your local papers know that you have an unique product that will benefit the local community and you are able to help them save time, learn more and be more effective in their daily lives. This could very well lead to an interview with your website product featured, and people would be curious as to what the buzz is all about.

At the very least it will create an awareness of your domain name or product in their sub-conscience mind.

You should also tie up with a local business that’s related to your product by offering them discount vouchers for your product to give away to their customers.

You can also take small ads in local magazines to advertise your product. You can find cheap ads.

You could also hand out flyers with special offers or find shops that would let you leave them on their counters.

You could even try sending a fax broadcast to business that could benefit from your product. You can find that some companies have lists of fax numbers, and can send out the fax.

If your product or service has a unique benefit, you can even be newsworthy and get an interview with a local reporter, and this means a better article for their readers or listeners.

Investigate the possibility of sending out Press Releases to the local media. You could have your product reviewed by them. You might also want to get a famous celebrity to endorse your product.
