My first piece of advice for Search Engine Optimisation was the Firefox browser. Even more so is a Firefox plugin named ‘SEO for Firefox’. The great thing about this addon is that it shows you additional statistics about the web sites in the serps when you type a query by one of the search engines.

There is also an idea in the plugin that allows you to view what types of outbound links are nofollow. This generally means that if the link points to your website, the link being nofollow will not pass any link juice to the website it is pointing at. Also there is SEO Xray, which lets you one click to see a websites meta data, which is important in todays SEO. Also view out the amount of keywords of the content on any web page for any keyword.
Also check to see if the site is listed in Dmoz, how many backlinks are pointing to the website, the pagerank of any web page, and what type of authority links point to them. Also see if any .gov or .edu links point to them as they are apparently given a very good ranking in Google, Yahoo and MSN.
