You can certainly teach yourself how to market through Twitter though, and these tips will get you going in the right direction…
- Do not just advertise, talk to your followers
Although it is common to see, you should not just post links in your status update box. It is true that this is a form of advertising, but it is certainly not as effective as verbally selling a product to potential customers. To effectively market items through Twitter, you have to build up a network of people / potential customers with which to sell to. If people know you and begin to trust you, they are more likely to buy products you advertise.
- Research what people actually want
It is of paramount importance that you select a product to market that you know your potential customer would actually be prepared to buy, it is a common and fatal mistake not to research this simple point.If you are having trouble finding out what products or services to promote, why not discuss with your followers what products or services they require. It is as simple as that!
- Choose quality over quantity
There are various tools available on the internet that will enable you to gain followers very quickly over a short period of time. Though as we mentioned earlier, it is important to actually get to know your customers, so having thousands of people following you that you do not know could ultimately be pointless.If you do not really know somebody who you are following, then you are unlikely to take any notice of their tweets. This is why adding hundreds of followers will not help you market products.
OK, so you may not be making money immediately, but if you follow the tips given above, within a month or so you should be seeing the fruits of your labor. Who knows, within a year you could be earning enough to give up your day job!
